HOTAS Support!

Did you know Ultrawings and Ultrawings Flat supports a variety of HOTAS and rudder pedals (on PS4 and PC)? It’s true!

First, please download our Joystick Test tool Here

This tool will detect whatever Joystick is connected to your computer and the buttons and axis when used. This tool is vital if you want to remap your inputs to different actions.

Please note we officially support the following HOTAS:

  • Saitek X52
  • Saitek X56
  • Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
  • Thrustmaster HOTASX
  • Thrustmaster HOTAS4
  • Thrustmaster T16000M

NOTE:  If your joystick is not listed on here we will more than likely need to add support for it.

Hopefully, this post will answer questions you may have on how to remap controls on your stick.

If you want to know if the game is properly detecting your joystick you’ll need to open up the Output.log file (after first launching the game) located in:

windows user name/appdata/locallow/bit planet games llc/ultrawings directory

And note what is being detected (for instance, if a generic, unsupported control type is detected it’ll default to desktop_gamepad). Next you’ll notice which schemas are being currently loaded by scrolling down a bit and seeing something like this:

Requesting Service: D:/Steam/steamapps/common/Ultrawings/Ultrawings_Data/StreamingAssets/Data/Config/Controller/Schema/VIVEGamepad/vive_gamepad_accept_schema.cfg

Customization

You can customize nearly all in-game controls.  But this is where things can get a little complicated.

First, open up the readme located in: Ultrawings_Data\StreamingAssets\Data\Config\Controller\Schemadirectory wherever your game is installed at.

Next, find the folder that corresponds with your stick and HMD.  For example, if you are using a Saitek stick with a Rift then open the SaitekX52Rift folder.  Mixed Reality uses the Vive folder, BTW.

NOTE:  PLEASE BACKUP YOUR EXISTING CONTROLS BEFORE CHANGING ANYTHING!!!!!

NOTE:  If the game recognizes the stick as a HOTAS variant you’ll see an image of a HOTAS pop-up in the Looking for Controller screen.  If it’s an obscure variant that we don’t know about it will probably think it’s a generic gamepad so you would select the Gamepad folder.

Within your chosen folder there are a bunch of SCHEMA config files.  These can be edited by any standard text file editor (we prefer Notepad++).  These schemas are virtually every control action in the game.  With the readme, Joystick Detection Tool, and your text editor you can remap to your heart’s content.

P.S.

Email us if you have any problems but make sure you’ve read this post and the readme before doing so as that will be the first thing we ask in our response!
